Looking for things to do with kids on a city break?

Give your family a shared mission. An Explorer Quest turns a walk into a chance to notice an unexpected detail, debate a possible answer and celebrate a discovery together. It is a playful way to make local stories part of your day.

Take turns reading, spotting clues and keeping track of your discoveries. Younger explorers can share what they see while adults help with directions and trickier puzzles. Make time for snacks, photographs and the places that catch your interest.

Meet the detective team

Snifflock the Dog Detective has a nose for a mystery and a different companion in each city. Investigate Edinburgh with Bobby, meet streetwise Tam the Glasgow Cat, or join Monty the British Bulldog for a London adventure. Each partnership gives its book a character of its own.

Created by Scottish tour guide, author and entertainer James Kennedy, the series brings his love of storytelling into family exploring. Read the story behind The Great Explorer Quest.

A little detective practice

Can you crack this one?

I have hands but cannot clap. I have a face but cannot smile. What am I?

Reveal the answer

A clock! A little observation goes a long way. This is a practice riddle, separate from the book’s missions.
